Online Advertising Campaign for Openwave
Systems
To capture the mobile developer market, we implemented an online advertising
campaign on two sites heavily favored by developers and promoted the
ads on the Google AdWords program. The campaign increased clicks to
the Openwave Developer website, exceeding the industry average, and
met our clickthrough goals: increased developer registrations and SDK
downloads. Since online advertising is so dynamic, we monitored results
daily to edit the ads and adjust the number of impressions on given
days to achieve our positive results. Now we can answer the question

Direct Mail Campaign for Sun Microsystems
Storage Division
How can a large revenue-producing division of a company gain visibility
in the industry when it remains invisible within its own company? That
was the problem Sun's Storage Division faced several years ago. At an
international company marketing/PR rally, we gave each participant a
box labeled "Don't Sell Storage Short!". To the surprise of Sun's Advertising,
PR and Marketing folks, the box contained a pair of black polka-dotted
periwinkle blue boxer shorts with a waistband that said "Don't Sell
Storage Short!". The box also held a brochure featuring a Wall Street
Journal article extolling the virtues of Storage as a growth business.
Within a few weeks, the Storage Division was assigned a dedicated PR
person and a portion of Sun's advertising budget.
GTE Mobilnet Customer Event:
10th Anniversary
How do you entice high-level customers and members of the Press to an
event just to celebrate your anniversary? We did it by inviting an artist
from each of the 22 communities served by GTE Mobilnet to create a piece
of art from a mobile phone. The results were displayed during an evening
cocktail event at the San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art Museum and
donated to KQED public broadcasting to benefit the organization's upcoming
Charity Ball. The upshot? Press covered the artists and the gift acceptance
by KQED Chairperson Mary Bitterman and high-level executives were loathe
to turn down an invitation with glitterati at the prestigious museum.
